Leave it to Kelly Slater to show up seemingly out of nowhere on the first day of decent waves in Florida in weeks (even months). But that's what The King does, right? When there's a swell, and he's not competing, he's on it. Being able to score at home, in August? Well, that doesn't happen very often. But it says a lot that Kelly chose to turn up at one of North Central Florida's most consistent breaks and put on a show for the locals. Kelly rode a wide variety of his new Slater Designs board line by Firewire, and even traded shred sleds with Evan Geiselman for a few waves. In addition, Kelly and Randy Richenberg struck up a conversation about fin theory in the water that, according to photographer Kem McNair, kept both of them occupied for 25 minutes. Rumor has it the chat was about Randy’s Biomimetic S-Wing Fins that Kelly has a set of and even used in a few contests this year. We're still waiting for Kelly to post on Instagram about his journey back to the homeland, but for now we'll enjoy these shots and sequences that prove this 44-year-old is still ripping harder than most young guns.
