True, I would feel horrible. At the same time, I don't think the pickup shares any responsibility. Don't tailgate. If you do an something happens, you only have yourself to blame.

On an only vaguely related note, after the video, one of the other videos suggested was called "Deadly Accidents, Worst Pedestrian Accidents Compilation / AVTO-CRASH CHANNEL". Wow! I didn't expect a video that felt like an old faces of death video on youtube. I watched a little bit of the video. Fortunately, all of the footage that I saw was very poor quality which is what allowed me to watch as much as I did (no visible blood or anything that I saw). Just wow, many/most (not all) of the accidents were completely due to pedestrians being somewhere that they clearly shouldn't have been and/or not paying attention. Some of the videos definitely seemed like a huge miss on the part of the vehicle operator.
