I've had a current gen Silverado since they came out in 2014 (basically the same as the Sierra). I have been very happy with the truck, it's been trouble free, and with the 6.2L gas engine it pulls very nicely (420HP). It gets a pretty solid 16-20MPG pretty much all the time. I would buy another FWIW.
I don't think you could go wrong with either. Drive both and buy what you like best.
