What I learned from that experience was that I don't like pick up trucks at all and I like it GM products even less.

I have had the opposite experience, Just turned 200k on my 6.0 gasser 2500 hd. Original engine , trans, and axles. I did have to rebuild the transfer case due to pump rub through. It uses no oil, makes no noises, and still pulls like a freight train . Parts are dirt cheap, and in stock at every parts store in the country . Super easy to work on, as easy as 70's vehicles .
This has been hands down , the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned . Im shooting for 300k .
It gets a whopping 14 mpg on the highway though, and 12 around town, but the power more than makes up for it.
