In my day with muscle cars, it was illegal in many states to have a VIN stamping tool set. Many people ground off the vin/serial number of a block to replace it as the "original" motor". Many unsuspecting buyers have cars today without a clue. One way to find out the original vin number is to do the acid test. The # will come up, but hard to see. The "stamped" engine above is not the original engine, and if put into the car would be, imo, fraud, if, if not told first.
