Good Hump day morning all.

We have bee playing with the 3D stuff. Basically anything we fly and shoot out the belly of the airplane is vertical or nadir photography. It is flown in stereo and we like a very minimum of 65% overlap and prefer 85% overlap. That allows us to look at the photography in stereo. The program exaggerates the Z axis or the vertical part and the operator can set the amount of exaggeration. Trees and building look a little taller than reality to make it easier to measure. The final product is accurate to a tolerance of a couple of pixels.

It is like looking at a little diorama or the background at a model rail road. Of course you can zoom in or out and move around like you are floating in the air. With the z values exaggerated a change in elevation like a drainage ditch or berm is cool looking. Utility poles are trippy. If you have the cursor on the ground the top of the pole is out of focus and you can bring the cursor to the top of the pole and see the pole come into focus. Since it was mostly shot looking straight down the side of the pole is hard to see. We can measure any object in the view. We have been doing that for over 15 years but just in the last few years getting into the digital capture. The new program is way better than the old clunky program.
