They have actually gone up in the past couple of years if you have been following the market. You used to be able to pick up examples in the mid to upper $30s with less than 60k miles. Now those cars are in fetching in the $40s if not more for the right color/optioned examples (X50 etc...). Porsche built a crap load of the 996TT compared to past generations. They will probably never become collectibles (maybe the 05 S) Collectors are after unmolested GT2s and GT3s. The Mezger is a sweet engine and I still consider them a great performance bargain.
