Three choices really:
- Sell it as a roller, walk away and take the hit.
- Source an engine from a legit dismantler like Oklahoma Foreign (not ebay) and replace.
- Go big and drop 25k on a 4.2L from Vision or other legit engine builder.
If it were a 993 most here would almost certainly invest in the quality fresh motor at 25k and just consider it part of the cost of Porsche ownership.
