A man's word defines his character. There are two ways to go about this:

One, tell everyone first come first serve: make no promises and you will break no promises.
Two, keep your word. Even if the guy doesn't show up, at least you can look yourself in the mirror and respect the guy looking back at you.

To those who would just as soon jones' on the guy and break your word, shame on you.
