There are permutations to an 80 year-old man marrying a 40 something woman but all end poorly. Let us be frank, a 40 year-old woman who desires to marry a man in his 80's has more issues than National Geographic.
That said, unless he is addled it remains his option, his to goon. Express your concerns then hope the worse isn't.
