1974 targa "s" correct engine number?
Hello again all. Question regarding correct engine # in a 1974 Targa "S" VIN 9114112451. The engine in the car serial # begins with 645 which would be a 1975 engine? The 1974 engine should begin with 614? The engine in the car has the green shroud. Can the engine numbers be off a little being it was the sloppy 1970's or is this a cut and dry replaced engine car. Maybe the original owner nuked the original engine in the first year and Porsche replaced it with a 1975 engine or the engine was nuked later in the car's life and the 1975 engine was as close as they could find? What did Porsche do in the 1970's if the original engine nuked in the first year of ownership as the 2.7's were not the best at that time. If the car is very nice but not the original engine-how much does this hurt the value of the car? Please help, I will not know for sure until the COA is ordered? Thank you for your replies.
