Thanks Yeti...I thought about those but concerned that they're not going to be much better than my KS...also classified as a sport-touring bike.
Looking through Craigslist, there's a 1998 R1100RT with 36k listed for KLR money. Sent him a note with some questions. If maintenance has been done and he has some history on the bike, it may serve the purpose. The oil-heads were pretty bullet proof and mileage is low for the age. By now a FD failure would have been addressed (hopefully). We'll see.
