On the Interstate coming into San Diego from El Centro on I-8 the elevation goes from 30 feet below sea level to over 3,500 feet. The long mountain passes had places to pull over and get water for the radiator. There were several cars overheating going up that mountain pass. The outside temperature is 100 or so and the hill is steep. My trusty 911 went up the hill with no issue and never got above 210.
I presume the more modern cars can do it with no issues. I did that trip in 2007 and several of the 10 or 12 year old cars were pulled over with steam blowing out. No steam from my 911!
