No; Castrol GTX, I always have (after talking to two mechanics), but I can't say for the PO.
By the looks of the oxidization/corrosion I would think the Cam would have had to be sitting for quite a while with moisture on it.
I hope it wasn't me and these Canadian garage winters.

It's being taken out and sent to a shop for a quote to weld/grind. Collective finger cross here X
