When winching the car onto a trailer (approx. 30 degree slope) this let go, sheered straight through, no additional weight on the car, brake off, lucky I was in it steering it .
A friend that knows more about metallurgy than I do (he doesn't need spellcheck to spell it
)pointed out that the metal became brittle because it was plated, Porsche should have left it alone and put up with a bit of rust.
Any expert advise?
