So I had a timing belt idler roller disintegrate recently without doing any major damage.
So over the past month I replaced the following as a precaution and had her running today:
-timing belt and rollers
-water pump
-crank seal
-balance shaft races and seals
-oil cooler seals
-power steering pump seals and hoses
-alternator belt
When I started her up I expected she would be quiet as a mouse but instead I was getting this chirp or thrash noise as I idled it up.
I probed around with the stethescope and think the noise was coming from the distributor housing.
The belt rollers all sounded normal. And the valve cover sounded fine and the chain pad was replaced some years ago. The cap and rotor looked lightly worn in spite of over 20K miles of use.
When I was putting it back together the distributor housing bolts all were stripped. Could this be the cause of the noise?
Thanks!
