If properly gapped, it will be near impossible to get in, especially the more tighter area valves with steeper angle of attack and film of oil does not help as that will make it just too tight. So carefully use some cleaner to spray away the oil film, that may just be enough to slip the feeler in.
With DK tool, there should be no need to use the feeler unless you are cross checking as you should.
Just try a bit harder to get the feeler in or back out the adjuster, put the feeler in and get the gap you need and measure against the DK tool.
