I THINK, I may have an idea of where this badge is from. A client of mine recently sent me some photos of a 964 which has some RUF bits on it. The car started life in Japan, made it's way to Canada and now is in the PNW. It's got the usual wing/steering wheel/18" wheels installed and it looks great.
Then I saw it on the dash, the exact badge you have here, although in perfect condition. I would put my money on a dealer in Japan putting some dress up RUF kits on cars and adding this dash to make the cars a little special.
Just a thought, but I bet I'm not far off!
