I'll chime in here since I recently had an '81 and '90 at the same time. I just sold the '81 btw. There was a significant difference in power and torque. After driving the '90 for a while, I would drive the '81 and find myself red lining it trying to have the same feel as the '90, not even close. My SC was stock, was yours? Did it have SSI's? Maybe your C4 is a little tired and needs more attention. Just my $.02 worth.
