I can't remember if the half shaft will compress enough to allow you to loosen the outer bolts to allow it to release and come down towards the floor enough to push a new boot on or not. I guess you can try, and if not, you know whats your gonna half ta doo. Best make sure the CV joint is good, tho, and since you're in there, re-grease it up like you know Rawknees likes it...
