Not in all locations. You have to look at the socio-e demographic of who is looking at the goods.
Akron? You got a wee bit of time.
A new, huge Wolf stove at REX's salvage (Roadway Express damaged goods) with a a bent side panel and two missing gigantic iron grill tops (maybe six in total) was $1,200. A grand to fix max? Lasted two weeks. I literally did not have the room. $8,000 unit.
Did score a used but mint retro modern dresser for $50 at a thrift shop three years ago. Comparable same brand dressers were $1,200- $2,000 (online retail so half is reasonable value). Was there three days until I found you could just put a lock on the thing no charge. I know it was some guest bedroom dresser that sat unused for 40 years.
Clothes? I suspect there are deals on good stuff but the donators are not the same here as in more robust economic communities. There is a pair of Allen Edmonds for $9, right now sitting there, but they will be size 8 1/2.
