Everywhere I go, there is a computer. I don't travel enough to need to have it show me the nearest Armenian-Thai fusion restaurant in an unfamiliar town. I borrowed one once when I was taking a trip, turned out the only time I looked at it was when I was being called or calling someone.
About the only thing I can imagine "needing" one for, is to do e-prescribing of narcotics, but I think that is a bad idea, and am not interested in pursuing it.

You have no clue what smartphones are capable of if you think they are simply an internet computer in your pocket. For example, GPS has enabled an entirely new paradigm of computing. No, not for simply maps, but for any app that is able to know your location and create logic around that.
