It's cheaper to buy the complete unit than piece it together.
The down side is, I never know what I ve got until I open it and there is always room to get stung.
Think, a 3.0 can basically be 35 years old and where it's been or what's been done is hard to tell when it's sitting on the floor.
Just this week, I opened a 78 3.0 long block that I bought off the floor. Turned out I won, still has 930 part numbers on the rods and mains, case is straight, heads are clean and rods are too. Down side is the alucil barrels, no shroud, fan exhaust, flywheel, and whatever else.
