I'm confused i take it it not a 911 engine? or its a 914/6 which has numbers in a different place, ive only ever seen the *XXXXX" number which is near the oil temperaure sender/right cam line, the other one ive never heard off, besides the 3 or 4 digit case numbers stamped on each side of the case (to indicate matching cases).
