The 'gentlemanly thing' would be to quietly affirm inside your own head that he's a fool, and let him in.
Anything else is a waste of your time, unless you feel like wasting your days being the "pro-bono traffic educator."
It's not exactly the same (but it's very similar to) the "smug left-lane speed limit" person.
