Hi Tom,

Here I go again.

Remember this is all my own opinion, ymv

Interior
The full transmission tunnel in the C4 is nicer looking than the small console in the 87.
Shorter looking shifter (and throw distance) in C4 is more racer than the 87.
Gauge cluster has more warning lights (good or bad?) that light up when started, then quickly disappear (maybe some reassurance in this?)
A/C is way better in the C4. In fact in HK where it can be very hot and humid it does an excellent job. My Jap. car is still better but not by much.

Everything else is pretty much the same in the interior.

Exterior
Front and rear bumpers look much nicer on the C4 - more integrated
Electric spoiler is nice as you can have both the older 911 style not disturbing the line (spoiler retracted) and yet have the stability and cooling benefit of the spoiler when needed.
Less boot space on the C4
More flex on the 87 cab than the C4 Coupe

Rest of the body is basically the same.

Mechanical
Traction in the C4 is awesome. I could easily loose the rear end on the 87 but the C4 just hangs in there.
I like the powersteering - I dont feel more detached as some would say.

All other mechanicals etc I cant compare because my car is modified thus

3.8ltr blue printed, chipped, MAF, LWF, B&B
Stiffer and adjustable suspension
BIG red brakes front and rear
Brake ducts for cooling
Turbo Twist wheels with SO3's
Some Italian steering wheel
Recaro A8 seats
Tower strut brace
Nakajima (sp?) stereo with Alpine speakers f&r
Clear side markers

There's probably more I missing but thats an overview.

Clearly the C4 is heavier but the extra power easily makes up for this and then some!

I find that I will redline the 87 more often when driving hard. It does feel lighter and more off and on than the C4.
The C4 with all its mods, is much more progressive in its power, all the way from idle to redline.
I still have a very healthy respect (errr...fear) for the power of the C4 hence why I tend not to be at the redline so much.

Just some thoughts.

Good luck on your decision. I dont think you can go wrong with the 87 thru to the 993's. They are all awesome cars in their own way and suit different needs.

Cheers
Mark
