The 3.2 carrera had actually felt much faster than a 964C2 or even the 993 C2 when I tried them. This is I suppose only "road feel", it is a very subjective and inaccurate measurement. The older generation 911s are much more direct unfiltered cars. One can just about feel everything on the road. Whereas the 964 and in partcular 993 are much more refined cars. Noise, ride, steering response are all "improved" in such a way that they may actually feel slower. Ever tried go-karting? Doing 30 in a go-kart is like doing 100 in a 993, except much more exciting.
I don't think one can judge how much faster or slower a car is by road feel. This can only be judged with any certainty either by direct comparison on track or by the use of some form of measuring device.
