error code po366

hi there ,

ive been having a bit bit of trouble with my 320d e90. long crank before starting and every few weeks or so no start on crank and every light coming on the dash , traction control abs etc. This didn't show up any codes at all but always seemed to happen on prolonged drives from a stand when the car would die.

if left with battery disconnected for a day the car would start up and run no problem, again no codes. My thought were crank sensor intermittent fault.

So this week after reading some articles I thought I'd change the crankshaft sensor, see if this cured the problem ( rather difficult to get to, behind starter motor !!)

So I've changed the sensor , very tight fit, original sensor on a 2006 car.

Now the car won't start at all , po366 error code, on crank rev counter shows 300 rpm and sometimes jumps to 900rpm.
I've also put in old sensor and tried , same results.

sensor wiring checked 5v, ground, and fluctuations in sense wire.

any ideas ?

I did clean location hole for sensor with a cloth to remove any SPARF !!

my thoughts now are

1: is the sensor sitting completely located
2: is reluctant wheel damaged , Bent, misaligned , coursing in correct signal
.... I havn't got an oscilloscope multimeter....

thanks
