Go to Zillow.com and look at housing prices in Spokane. CHEAP! $250K will buy you a trendy loft in the heart of downtown. Go outside town a little and you can have a 1/2 acre with a 3,000 sq ft house on one of the lakes.
The only draw back to me is 45" of snow between Nov and March.
