Be careful refinishing a gun. It is my understanding it is easy to kill some of the value by re-rinishing them.
Grew up with a 22 single shot that my brothers grew up with. By the time I got it was beat to heck. Re-blued and refinished the stock myself, and did it proper so it still showed age and wear, but none of the abuse. It looked aged and used but not abused. Did such a good job my older brother claimed and took it for his grandkids to grow up with. Tried to tell them it looked so good because he took care of it when he had it...BS. Don't know where it is now. Had a 22 semi-auto Mountain Eagle that was just as accurate and easier to carry hiking at the time so didn't care.
Still have the nickel I threw up in the air and shot a hole in with it when I was 12.
