In Canada we had both the Chevy II and it's Pontiac counterpart.
My Dad had a 62 Acadian four door (white with red interior) and a '67 Acadian four door (blue on blue) both were very basic and taught young drivers about "conservation of energy". Unfortunately they didn't go around corners very well.
There was a Pontiac version of the Chevelle as well called the Acadian Beaumont. I remember driving one (a '68) with a six and the two speed "slushbox". That car didn't as much accelerate as it accumulated velocity.
