1979 911 SC Targa

Hi everyone, i purchased this car couple months ago from a local PCA member. My intentions were to drive this while i painted my other Pcar. Plans changed and i just drove both all summer. Ill end up painting my other car this winter.

Looking for a valuation on this car.

1979 911 SC Targa 177k - Broken odometer. Broke about a year ago with the previous owner who owned it for roughly 35 years. He said, it wasn't the first time it had broke and he was sure it wasn't going to be the last so, he grew tired of replacing it. He claimed to drive the car only about 1000 miles a year as of the past few years, because it was tough for him to drive this car. Car has likely 180k~ish miles. Don't let the miles scare you though, i have records dating back to 1984 with majority of the work done with Euro Autowerks in Rockford, Mi.

This car has zero rust anywhere on the car. Front pan and floors looks great along with the rockers. The torsion bar areas are very strong and dry. Ill be taking more photos underneath once i get access to a lift. The paint is in great shape, couple rock chips on the main front bumper. the rest of the car is very nice and few blemishes. The doors do have some dings which can been seen in the photos. In my opinion the doors are the worst looking area on the body due to the dents.

This is an excellent car that is very original and very babied over its lifespan. The color is Mocha Brown with dark chocolate brown seats and interior. Triple dark brown. Most mistake the color for black when dusk hits. The seats are absolutely perfect. The original carpet and mats are in great shape as well. Rear seats look like no one as sat in them. No cracks in the dash, however it is worn a bit near the steering wheel and it's wavy in a couple spots that are minor. to complete the interior you would just need an original shift knob, e-brake handle and e-brake boot. currently there is just a leather booth and shift knob on.

The engine has a new airbox with a pop off valve, Carrera tensioners, SSI's and 2 in 1 out dansk muffler. The engine was religiously maintained by Euro Autowerks in rockford, mi. They checked and adjusted the valves yearly and made sure the CIS was running properly. The car has no records of of top end rebuild and does not have any broken headstuds. The transmission was rebuilt @ 170k miles and they replaced the clutch at the same time. The transmission shifts incredibly smooth, you can tell this was done very recently. all the bushings have been replaced in the shifter as well, very tight, best 915 i have ever driven. The fuel lines have also been replaced. A/C was converted to R134a and does work, just needs a recharge. Lots of maintenance has been done in the last 10k miles in including the alternator. There are records to show all this and many more valve cover gaskets, oil changes, valve adjustments, blower motors, oil pressure switch, etc. The engine pulls very strong to redline and has plenty of power. The engine leaks very minimally. looks to be coming from a valve cover gasket.

The suspension is very tight, tie rods have been replaced recently along with an alignment. The green Bilstein struts ride smooth down Michigan's unloved roads. The car has been lowered to Euro height.

I do have the tool kit, spare tire and jack along with the original manuals. The targa is not leaking and is in good shape, however there are some areas that are worn. i have the 2 original keys and a valet key. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things.

Overall, its a fun, smooth, original car thats a blast to drive!
