Or with what is needed to build your own from source. Of course, we'll never see a total Free Software phone system - the hardware manufacturers prevent it, in the mostly wrong belief that documenting how to interact with the hardware would expose how the hardware is made/designed internally. So, binary blobs. And if those blobs or the modules that use them aren't kept up to date with the Linux kernels intentional unstable internal API then you can't go Free and do your own updates (or have a 3rd party do them for you).



Personally I'm still searching for a replacement for my iPhone 4 (not even 4s). Held back by form factor from apple although the SE looks interesting, held back by lack of true Freedom for something that started as Free with Android. Maybe I'll go retro cool and build a bag w/ battery, raspberry pi, some dongles, and an old wall handset ....
