its a long story and not that interesting.
I'll summarize.

I have a one year car - not a Porker - with some very hard to find (and relatively expensive) parts.
It was totally rebuilt as a street rod. Tube frame, LS, blah blah. Six figures and four years in the build. Despite providing all the receipts to the builder they covered it for $65k.

Turned it over to test something in the garage, but I'd stupidly left it in gear - the handbrake needed adjusting - and it ran into the cabinets on the starter motor.

Ruined one of the one year pieces - the grille - and did a little bodywork damage.
I'd had the car like a month. Not a good day.

I was supposed to get help to find replacements for the damaged parts plus the cost to fix the damage minus the deductible. I shipped the car back to Texas to the builder to fix. Repair cost was $3500. Parts were another $1500. I couldn't find the unobtanium piece so it was repaired. It's not perfect, but it'll have to do.

I got no help and a check for $800.
Then at the next renewal they dropped me.
Said it was because my wife - who never drove the car - had had an accident in her VW.

F. Hagerty.
