My grandmother had 2 cats. Her house was next door to my aunt's. Grandma had big porches going half the length of her house and kept shoes just outside her back door for walking over to my Aunt's. Her cats were finding and killing snakes then leaving them in Grandma's shoes.
We had Siamese cats when I was growing up. They passed from old age not too long before my Grandmother did and my Mom took her two cats. One was siamese and the other a big Burmese. The burmese was very very attached to Grandma. It would site next to her on the piano bench when grandma played the piano and sing. When grandma picked him up he would grab her around the neck and hug her.
We had both cats at our house for a couple of weeks, then Mom decided they needed to be let out since they were both inside/outside cats. The first time Mom let the burmese out it took off and we never saw it again. The Siamese stuck around and was a good cat. She even put up with me training Penny to pet her. For a while anyway, when the cat had enough it would plant it's paw claws out on the top of Penny's head. Penny would just sit there patiently with her head down and a big grin until the cat took her paw back. Penny would still pet the cat when you asked her to and the cat enjoyed it for a while each time,
