I think it sold appropriately.
Here is a rough analysis of the early 911 market on BaT for the last six months.
May 2016
1970 T Coupe project.....$15,000
1971 E Coupe..... $93,000
1971 T Coupe..... $43,000
1971 E Targa..... $65,000
June 2016
1973 T Targa.....$60,000
1968 Coupe..... $60,000
1971 T Coupe..... $36,000
July 2016
1972 S Coupe..... $72,000
1968 Coupe..... $130,000
August 2016
1968 Coupe..... $79,000
1970 T Coupe..... $77,000 (No sale)
September 2016
1970 T Coupe..... $66,000 (No sale)
1971 T Targa..... $60,000
1970 T Targa.... $52,000
October 2016
1973.5 T Coupe..... $55,000
1971 T Targa..... $57,000
Analysis
5 Targas sold; Highest price car was a 1971 E for $65,000. A 1973 2.4 Targa sold for $60,000. The other 3 were 2.2L Ts with the high selling for $60,000 the low for $52,000. IMO, this 2.2L Targa sold competitively given the other comparison points in a similar timeframe. The surprising element to me was the color did not receive a premium.
