I think you are right. We have just discovered the steps 17,18,19 describing outboard CV repacking and removing and installing of the shield inaccurate.
Now since this outer part is not serviceable how does one clean it. Any sand in it will make it wear out very quickly? And this is the outer part of the shaft that is mostly exposed to movement and boot cracks.
