My oldest has been involved in dance for 12 years now. Being one of the few parents with both an X and a Y chromosone, sitting and waiting for hours on end, has gotten me quite a few stares over the years. Almost as if I was unwelcome - until they needed a check written, help moving stuff, or computer support.
Fortunately there is a little Greek diner/bar combo next to the dance place, so I typically sit there and do homework, etc. Or when it gets dark late (up until about now, and March thru June) I drop off the kid and go down to the shooting range a couple of minutes drive away.
