We used an app like you are describing (maybe that one, are you in healthcare?) We dropped it as soon as we could. There were decisions made on the code years ago that were poorly planned and the money wasn't there to properly rewrite it. The reason I bring this up is when we saw they were continuing on the current path we dropped them. I imagine the people using the app from your current team will respond the same way and there will be zero income and the team will get broken up anyway. Be proactive now, even if the company isn't.
