The computer should have been warning you at 15-20% remaining.
Sounds like a new battery is needed.
Looks to be about $20-35 on Amazon (for comparison)
Also:
-Hit CNTRL/ALT/DEL and kill off the parasite processes running in the background. This includes cameras and microphones not needed for the moment, updaters, and programs which want to automatically start up on their own. All those suck the life out of personal property.
-Do disk cleanup, defrag, and keep things lighter for the HD.
-Reduce the monitor settings a notch.
-Keep it charged up. But un-plug after it is charged.
