That may have been true 40 tears ago, but it is certainly not true today. People are installing solar panels on their homes today, and saving money, as well as reducing the need to develop more power plants. Solar panels are installed and paid for during a payoff period, after which they are creating free electricity.
There is an entire industry devoted to this. Of course resistance to this in the US means that most of the industry has been outsourced. Way to go guy.
