Maybe another follow-up question: I've had rental cars that had some sort of oil life sensor feature. Does anybody know how those work? Is it simply engine run-time based? Or something else?
The sensors I listed above are, I'm guessing, more expensive than what I think manufacturers would install in a car. I'm just curious about the base technology is.
