I know it cost me more money to change my own oil, but I'm certain it takes less time out of my schedule to do it myself- get home pull the plug, do a few odds and ends then remove/replace filter and plug, fill up with the amount I know works and go back to my life.

No waiting rooms and worrying that they either did it wrong, or put in cheap oil and charged me for synthetic and don't forget about hassling you to replace a whole bunch of other little stuff that really doesn't need replacing yet.
