Funny thread. Depending on which car I'm driving, I love to get my juvenile on. My 911 3.2 has an open air filter lid, stock heat exchangers / manifolds and a Dansk 1 in / out muffler. It sounds good, but I wouldn't call it loud by any means (although some might).

My old MkV R32 (also a 3.2 six cylinder!) sounds GLORIOUS with stock exhaust and a Walker Dynomax swapped in place of the factory primary muffler / center resonator. It's my son's car now. We can hear him departing / arriving our neighborhood.

Wife's A3 2.0t is too quiet, but I don't care. I don't spend money modifying the wife's car's anymore.

Airport beater 2000 528i is nearly silent. I've thought about a primary muffler / center resonator delete as I would like SOME aural pleasure, but it's nice to have a quiet car too. 'Sides, makes it easier to rock to the BMW "Business" cassette player. Ha! Cassette player. It's most definitely NOT The Business.

I can configure the exhaust on my Lotus to blow numerous different sound levels between <90dB to >116dB. It's nice to be able to scare you Harley riders every now & again. I've been fortunate enough to run quite a few unlimited sound days at Laguna Seca. Doesn't set off any alarms trackside that I know of, but has probably caused a few ears to bleed in the paddock accelerating up the front straight...

Glorious straight pipe / fully uncorked exhaust.
