An acquaintance of mine got together with two other couples and they bought a nice houseboat. They had it trucked to Muskogee, OK. They sailed down the Arkansas river to the Mississippi. Out the Gulf, and stayed close to shore and sailed around the Florida Keys, up the Inter-coastal waterway and all the way to Martha's Vineyard. The had to hire a professional captain for parts of the journey and they only sailed on nice weather. If the weather was bad they would pull into a port and even spent some time in hotels for repairs on the houseboat. It took them many months but they were not in a hurry or on a schedule. I think that would be way more time on the water than I could stand but they had fun. They sold the boat to someone in Providence, RI and flew home.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun. I am not one for sailing unless I can see shoreline. River boat cruising sounds more my style. Thanks for the above.
