The one I carry in my pocket is relatively new to me, and though I'm a .45 ACP guy, I finally picked up a Ruger LC9S (9mm) due to it's compact size. Striker fired and a very sweet trigger and I like it...very accurate too. Mine will NOT fire without the magazine, and that's why I selected it (also has a redundant safety, unnecessary, and I'm a lefty too
). They have another version without the safety, and it will fire without the magazine, but I made a conscious, calculated decision...I wanted it to be inoperable if I remove the mag....I do it all the time and just lay the gun down with the mag in my pocket if it's in the way while working, etc. Always keep one chambered w/ 7 in the mag. If it were to be lost/confiscated, etc., no biggie...$400 and no sentimental or real value like my Colts
, and if not in my sometimes sweaty pocket it's in my truck toolbox. It's in my pocket most days however...
