When I was in 9th grade we lived in Waipahu, HI. I was one of the two white kids in the school. Bullying was a daily experience and every Friday was kill haole day so even more kids had "fun." Even Chuck Norris can't whip an entire school of bullies, especially when some were upperclassmen and Samoan.
The principal and the majority of the teachers would not do anything. There was only one teacher, the shop teacher that would do anything. I saw that teacher grab one of the biggest Samoan boys by the throat and slap him around. He told that boy if he hears about him doing anything further to me he would drag his ass into that cane field behind the school and bury him. Then he told him if that little haole (me) has to run to class again he will break his legs. The bully believed him.
I had to run home more than a few times with several mokes chasing me. The other white kid was not in any classes with me so I had zero friends that year.
Racism ain't no fun.
I was thrilled when we got to move on base and go to a school the the mokes were not a problem because they were not a majority. There was no issues at all.
Our next move to Alabama the school was 75% black. I never had one single issue with racism there. The culture was totally different and it took me a few months to get to where I could understand them. Never any bully issues or racial issues.
