Working as a machinist when I first got married, never bothered with a ring since it'd be foolish to wear it at work.
Ten years pass, change jobs, wife finally says it's time for me to have one. Buy it, but it needs sizing. That afternoon I'm washing the car, before going over to the in-law's, on our front lawn. Notice my ring has slipped off my finger. Stop washing the car and start looking for it in the grass (this was before the drought). Postman walks up and starts chatting, asking what I'm looking for. Tell him my ring fell off. He looks down and picks up something and asks "Is this it?" I couldn't thank him enough.
