That sucks, Hugh. At least you can get the same guy to make you another. THat's a huge plus when you are used to such a special ring.

My wife lost mine between putting on her wedding dress and getting in the limo to come to the church on the day of our wedding. Fortunately, my uncle was the pastor performing the service and lent me his ring which had been my grandfather's to use for the ceremony. Then we went and got another.
