I cancelled my Visa CC that I'd had through my CU for a dozen years a long time ago. The CU had "sold" it to a service provider....
Recieved a notice from the provider that they would no longer offer protection for online purchases, or for transactions more than 150 miles away from the cards mailing address

I was on the phone to cancel it immediately....never replaced. I just use my debit...have for 7-8 years now, and don't keep a bundle in checking...
